"At the time of the creation of the planet, the most beautiful connection between land and sea happened on the Montenegrin coast…"

Although small in territory, Montenegro abounds in natural beauty, historical monuments and sunny weather almost all year round. It is a country full of contrasts. At a distance of only 100 kilometers there are three different natural environments: the coast, the karst region and the region of high mountains. Often, tourists have the opportunity to swim in the sea, rafting on rivers, hiking or skiing in the mountains - all in one day. In just one hour of driving, you will cross from the Mediterranean zone with 2,700 hours a year to the mountain zone to the ski slopes.

Three hundred kilometers of the Adriatic coast is the jewel of the Montenegrin array of natural beauties. The beaches are pebble, sandy or rocky, only a few meters long, hundreds of meters or kilometers. Lonely - away from populated areas or in front of the central city waterfront or your hotel. Some, with restless waves, look out to sea and some are sheltered in the calm waters of a picturesque bay. Some are, again, tame and easily accessible, others are wild, isolated and inaccessible, they can generally be reached only by boat. These, in turn, are desolate, romantic and lonely. They are, again, alive, full of a series of planned events and activities.

At the UNCED conference (Brazil 1992), Montenegro was declared the first ecological country in the world. Protected natural and cultural resources cover 10% of the total territory. Four national parks, protected forest systems, authentic natural complexes, unpolluted water, clean air, over 50 protected plant and 320 animal species form an excellent basis for further development of tourism. Nearly a quarter of the total European flora can be found in this few areas. Montenegro is also a country of natural rarities, it is home to one of the two jungles in Europe, the southernmost and most beautiful bay of glacial origin in the world, the deepest and longest river canyon in the world after Colorado, the longest submarine river, the largest and most characteristic lake in Europe. (Skadar Lake) and the cleanest river in Europe!

Durmitor National Park and the city of Kotor are on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List! The "throne" of Cetinje could soon find its place on this list. Also, the list of national parks could soon be supplemented by two magnificent names such as Prokletije and Orjen, in addition to the already existing Skadar Lake, Lovćen, Biogradska gora and Durmitor.

The Adriatic (Adria) was named after the ancient port of the same name, which was located on the Apennine coast. Even today, the city of Adria is located on the Italian coast, but 38 kilometers away from the sea, which is the result of geological forces, as a result of which the northern coast is constantly rising, and the southern coast is falling. The Adriatic Sea covers the area between the Balkan and Apennine peninsulas. The part belonging to Montenegro is the area of the east coast, which stretches from Prevlaka in the northwest to the mouth of the river Bojana in the southeast, including rare islands and cliffs along the coast.

Boka Kotorska

"And I wonder how the sun can set

when the beauties of this will not be found anywhere. "

Š. Nenadovic

The Bay of Kotor is the largest and most beautiful fjord in the Mediterranean, which enters the mainland for a full 28 km, welcomes travelers with the beauty of its bays, the peace of the two islands, St. George and Our Lady of Skrpjelo and the old towns where every step is walking through history. High mountains towered over the thin line of the coast, protecting it from the harsh climate from the north. and that is why Boka is an oasis of Mediterranean vegetation - agave, palm, mimosa, oleander, kiwi, pomegranate, medicinal herbs… While it is snowing on its tops, roses are blooming at the foot at the same time.

For the entire area of the Bay of Kotor, considering it as one, geo-morphological and plant-geographical unit, it can be said that nature was very generous in its work. It is a rare case that on a relatively smaller area and shorter air distance you can find such a contrast of relief, in the miraculous structure of tectonic structure, and plant-geographical fragmentation - from impoverished, almost bare limestone areas in the hinterland, from deciduous - to evergreen vegetation. coastal zone. In this picturesque meeting place of beautiful panoramas and numerous landscape colors, a grandiose work of nature rises - Boka, this "bride of the Adriatic" has found an enviable place in the works of travel writers, poets and artists.
